Preparation for Inscribing Your Yantra
Select a day to inscribe your yantra. Each member will receive the yantra at a different time due to postal delivery so please use the following guidelines:
- Select the next 4th Moon (waxing or waning), 14th Moon (waxing or waning), or Sunday to inscribe your yantra. *These are power times for Ganesha.
- It is important to inscribe the copper plate in a calm and peaceful space. This is a sacred ritual and you want to give it your full attention. It is recommended to remove any distractions or possible interruptions while you inscribe the copper plate.
- Give yourself plenty of time to inscribe and meditate with the yantra.
- You will be chanting the mantra Om Gum Ganapatayei Namaha while inscribing the yantra so you may want to chant along to an audio of Dr. Pillai, or you may simply chant on your own.
What you will need:
You have the copper plate and the geometric design from your package. The following are recommended items that will help you inscribe the copper plate and create your yantra:
- A flat surface to work on (a table, desk, etc.)
- Scotch tape – it is helpful to tape the geometric design on top of the copper plate to trace
- A ballpoint pen
- A small cloth or paper towel
Optional:
- Vibhuti & kumkum – to put on your third eye
- Water – to hydrate the yantra once it is inscribed
- Ghee Lamp – to offer to the yantra once it is inscribed
- Picture or statue of Ganesha – to put in your work area as you inscribe the yantra
Inscribing Your Yantra
- The image with Geometric Design A has the two triangles and the sounds that Dr. Pillai has given to inscribe your yantra. If you are able to trace both the lines of the triangle and the printed text, you can use Design A to inscribe your yantra.
- If the printed text is too small for you to trace, you can use Design B, which has the two triangles, but no printed text. With this option, you will write in the text in your own handwriting.
Please select either Design A or Design B to inscribe your yantra.
NOTE: your final product should have two inverted triangles with all of the text that you see in Design A. The only difference between A and B is how you inscribe this text onto your copper plate.
Option 1: Design A
Chant the sounds: OM GUM GANAPATAYEI NAMAHA while inscribing your yantra.
- Take the paper with Design A and center the image over you copper plate.
- Use the scotch tape to secure the paper over the copper and keep it in place while you inscribe.
- Using a ballpoint pen, trace over the black lines of the triangle on the paper, pressing hard enough so the design is imprinted onto the underlying copper plate.
- Once you have your triangles inscribed on the copper, use your ballpoint pen and trace the words on the paper, again pressing hard enough so the letters are imprinted onto the copper plate.
*Start with the sound OM, and go in a clockwise fashion as you inscribe the sounds. Then trace the sounds in the center area of the triangle.
OM à GANG à GAà NA à PA àTHI
HEEM à HOOM à EEM à KREEM à LUM
- You may want to trace over the triangles and the letters a few times to make sure the design has been inscri
bed onto the copper plate.
Your paper will look like this:

6. Remove the paper and tape from your copper plate.
7. Take a small cloth or paper towel and wipe your plate.
Option 2: Design B
Chant the sounds: OM GUM GANAPATAYEI NAMAHA while inscribing your yantra.
- Take the blank template of Design B and use your ballpoint pen to print the text you see on Design A into the empty triangles on Design B. This allows you more room to write the sounds in your own handwriting, and will be easier if you find the text in Design A too small to trace.
- Once your Design B template has all of the text written in the triangles. It will look like this:
- Next, take the paper with Design B and center the image over you copper plate.

- Once you have your triangles inscribed on the copper, use a ballpoint pen and trace the words on the paper, again pressing hard enough so the letters are imprinted onto the copper plate.
- Use your scotch tape to secure the paper over the copper plate and keep it in place while you inscribe.Using a ballpoint pen, trace over the black lines of the triangle on the paper, but press hard enough so the design is imprinted onto the underlying copper.
*Start with the sound OM, and go in a clockwise fashion as you inscribe the sounds. Then trace the sounds in the center area of the triangle.
