Hayagriva – Archetype of Highest Knowledge & Abundance

The Bhagavata Purana explains that during every Kalpa (single cycle of cosmos from creation to destruction, approximately 4,320 million human years) when Ajnana (ignorance) in the form of a demon steals the Vedas, Hayagriva incarnates and restores them.

The sacred Purana also praises Hayagriva, the horse-necked avatar of Vishnu, as the embodiment of ultimate intelligence and wisdom. As the guru of Goddess Saraswati, the celestial patron of arts and sciences, this avatar of Vishnu rules over all forms of knowledge and wisdom. Scriptures depicts him with a horse face and a human body who has four hands, with three hands holding a conch, discus, and rosary, and the fourth hand in a mudra (gesture) bestowing immense wealth and wisdom.
